A Deep Dive Into Stock Investing
PRESENTED BY: Brandon Collier
Duration: 135 Min
CE Hours: 2.25
- Investing in stocks
- Three approaches – constructing a portfolio of well-run profitable businesses; owning the markets through low-cost index funds; hiring an advisor to build and manage a portfolio for you
- How to judge whether your advisor is earning his or her fee?
- For dividend paying stocks, harnessing the long-term compounding effect of reinvesting those dividends
- Learning security analysis “Warren Buffett-style” – analyzing a number of publicly traded companies (some brand names and some perhaps not) to determine whether we are likely to be satisfied ten years from now if we purchase them at today’s prices

SEGMENT 3
Bond Yields Went from Zero to Hero-Now What?
PRESENTED BY: Marilyn Cohen
Duration: 75 Min
CE Hours: 1.25
Learning Objectives:
The mad rush to CD’s and money market funds is admirable because those short-term yields are enticing. But when yields stop increasing and begin their downward descent, it will be fast and furious, and investors will be bewildered.
I will discuss why it makes sense to extend further out on the yield curve with maturities from 2025 to 2031. I will also compare last year’s bond names and yields to todays, peppered with new recommendations. Particular attention will be devoted to the municipal and corporate bond market, but I will also give my thoughts on Treasuries, TIPS, and government agency bonds. Finally, I will discuss the mechanics of buying bonds and explain that the way the bond market operates is vastly different than the stock market.
Marilyn Cohen is one of the country’s top bond managers. For 27 years she has been CEO of her own money management firm, Envision Capital Management, Inc. As Envision’s CEO, Marilyn and her company specializes in managing bond portfolios for individuals. Marilyn is a 27-year veteran Forbes magazine columnist. She is the author of four books on bond investing, all available on Amazon.
Marilyn is a popular guest on CNBC, Fox Business News, PBS and each of the major broadcast networks. Her comments—stated in plain English—guide individuals through the inner workings of the bond market.
